Cammell Laird is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all Employees, Contractors and Visitors. The company employs a highly qualified and experienced Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality professionals, who manage and supervise all levels of work undertaken.
This is supported with appropriate advice and guidance to successfully deliver projects safely, without risk to health or damage to the environment and to the exact requirements of the customer.
Work Safe, Home Safe.
Our Work Safe, Home Safe (WSHS) policy sets out the required behaviours and attitudes to maintain safe and healthy business operations.
WSHS includes a set of guidelines which outlines the group’s unfaltering commitment to health and safety in all aspects of its work and reiterates the four key values that underpin its operations – care, commitment, communication and compliance. By working together - we can reduce the risk of accidents happening in our workplace. Work Safe, Home Safe (WSHS) defines the core values which should form the basis of our safety culture here at Cammell Laird.
Since the launch of WSHS, we have seen health and safety improvements right across the business. We continue to invest heavily in creating the right processes, infrastructure and behaviours to ensure a happy, healthy and prosperous workplace.
Our Policies
Cammell Laird has developed a comprehensive Management System which is used across the business to help maintain compliance with the key ISO standards we are certificated to through LRQA.
Cammell Laird undergoes rigorous audits from various authorities and agencies which review our core processes and procedures to ensure that we do what we say we do, and that we can prove it.
Each and every one of our team help us to pass these audits by following our policies, processes and safe working procedures at all times. Our internal audit programme ensures we are constantly reviewing and improving our policies as part of our continual improvement process.
The Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems are subject to regular management review and are certified to ISO 45001: 2018, BS ISO 14001: 2015 and BS ISO 9001: 2015 respectively
RoSPA Award
Cammell Laird’s has been awarded the RoSPA Silver Award for its health and safety performance during 2021.
The award reflects Cammell Laird’s overall commitment to HSEQ, which includes the new training portal and HSE Responsibilities for Manager and Supervisors in Shipyards five- day training course.
Since its launch in April last year, 54 Directors, Managers and Supervisors have completed the IOSH course. The course is very interactive and has a final assessment exam and a practical workplace-based project. The course outlines Cammell Laird’s four core values that underpin the safety culture for all staff - care, commitment, communication and compliance.
Kevin Peart, Group HSEQ Director said: “We are proud to be part of the prestigious RoSPA awards process, the commitment to HSEQ by all customers, contractors and employees on site has been key to achieving the award. RoSPA’s recognition of all our work is testament to HSEQ improvements we have made over the last three years we are continually developing the on line training portal to provide further HSEQ training. Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice.
